I have read a few books, dale carnigie, van fleet, and accidentally stumbled on this. I have know idea why more people or search s don't mention this guy, he is outstanding. Easy to read, easy to follow his thought process, no fluff, all meat and potatoes - every sentence has alot of meaning. Don't let the publication date scare you, its the most current up date book on the market. I accidently found this through a amazon recommendation and bought it because it was cheap. I just read, and reread, helping at work alot.

This is based on the book, but not the better version that I got at Audible. The book is excellent and wears well with time. People's nature really doesn't change with time. People are mostly interested in themselves. People want things. The things they want may change, but not the needs they are trying to satisfy.The book is five star, the Audible longer and different version is better than this one, but even with outdated examples you will find this version helpful if you are knew to the book.

I love the fact that he considers this book unfinished unless we apply these principles of dealing with people to our own accord by writing it down. He even give us a guided worksheet at the end to write down what improvements need to be made on a weekly basis. It is a timeless book. I love it

The basic principles this book explains are timeless and foundational to working with people. Anyone who has to interact with people will find value in this book. Having the knowledge of how to interact with people is only half the battle. Executing these principles is a challenge in itself.The language is a little bit outdated and brings you back to a time without the high pace of technologically enabled communication that we have today, but the underlying principles of human nature remain unchanged. This is an easy read and worth the money, especially if you can find a used copy.

Excellent book. I now have my 13 year old reading it and he thinks it is awesome. His exact words were "This is going to be very useful for me. I didn't think I'd like this but this is good stuff!". lol Def a must read if you are trying to improve any area of your life.

If you've read Carnegie, then this book will serve as either (i) a stimulating refresher, or (ii) merely a supplement to the archetype. Some good factoids and anecdotes throughout, but also occasional disagreements with Carnegie that were never fleshed out (I understand, given the date of publication, it's a moot point, but one that nevertheless left me wanting more). Overall, a quick read that's worth your time, but I will always be going back to Carnegie's edition in a crisis.
